Building services in Woking.
Everything from a single-room refurbishment to a new home, delivered by one local team.
Renovations and Property Refurbishment in Woking
From refreshing the interiors to updating the kitchen and bathrooms, our property refurbishment service covers every aspect of your home. We offer everything from painting and decorating to full-scale renovations, carried out with care and attention to detail.
With the guidance of our experienced builders and architects, you can create a layout that reflects your lifestyle without having to relocate. Internal work rarely needs planning permission, but in Woking’s conservation areas changes to the outside of a house, including its roof and windows, are more tightly controlled.
House Extensions in Woking
We design and build house extensions in Woking that feel like a natural part of the home: single-storey and double-storey extensions, rear, side return and wrap-around extensions, kitchen extensions, utility rooms and garden rooms.
Our fully managed service runs from the initial consultation, design advice and planning guidance through groundworks, structure and roofing to the internal works and final inspection. Around 60% of the borough is Green Belt, where permitted development still applies but larger extensions are judged against the size of the original house.
Loft Conversions in Woking
Converting the loft is a practical way to gain an extra bedroom, a home office or a playroom, and is often more cost-effective than moving. We tailor every loft conversion in Woking to the house and the people living in it, and work to keep disruption to a minimum.
Most lofts in the borough can be converted under permitted development, within the volume limits. In a conservation area a dormer needs planning permission. Our guide to loft conversion planning permission and building regulations explains the rules.
Garage Conversions in Woking
Is your garage merely a store for old belongings? We can convert it into a stylish, functional room that complements the rest of your home, whether you want a guest room, a home office, a gym or a playroom for the children.
On newer estates the original planning permission sometimes requires garages to be kept for parking, so it is worth checking before you start. Our garage conversion guide covers the planning and Building Regulations position.
New Builds in Woking
We deliver new build homes in Woking for homeowners and developers, turning vacant plots and redevelopment opportunities into homes built to the highest standards. Before construction begins we assess the site’s layout, access, orientation and surroundings so the new home makes the best possible use of the land.
The whole borough lies within five kilometres of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area, so every additional home must contribute to measures that protect the heathland. Replacing one house with another does not add a home, so it is normally unaffected.
Commercial Building in Woking
We deliver commercial building in Woking for a diverse range of sectors, including offices, healthcare facilities and retail spaces, managing the entire process from initial planning to completion.
Our commercial project management takes care of architects, engineers, the local authority and every trade, so that timelines are met, costs are controlled and you can stay focused on your business. If you are planning an office refit, our office refurbishment checklist is a useful place to start.
We also take on healthcare, private works and small works in Woking. See all our services.
Planning and building in Woking
What local knowledge means in practice for a project in the borough.

Who decides planning applications
Woking Borough Council is the local planning authority. From April 2027 it is due to become part of the new West Surrey Council, which will take over planning. The national rules on permitted development will not change.
Conservation areas
Woking has 27 conservation areas, including the town centre, the old village centres of Horsell and Old Woking, and stretches of the Basingstoke Canal. St John’s, where we are based, has one too. The council publishes a conservation area map.
Green Belt
Around 60% of the borough is Metropolitan Green Belt. Being in the Green Belt does not remove permitted development rights, but where planning permission is needed an extension must not be a disproportionate addition to the original building.
Protected heathland
Horsell Common and the heaths around Brookwood are part of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area, and all of the borough falls within five kilometres of it. This affects new homes. It does not affect extensions or loft conversions.
Neighbourhood plans
Some parts of the borough, such as West Byfleet, have a neighbourhood plan that the council uses alongside its own policies when deciding applications.

Building in Woking: your questions answered.
Answers to the questions we are asked most often by homeowners and businesses in Woking.
Do I need planning permission for a house extension in Woking?
Some house extensions fall under permitted development rights, while larger or more complex projects require planning permission. Homes in one of Woking’s 27 conservation areas, listed buildings and properties whose rights were removed when they were built are more likely to need an application. We will guide you through the planning process and explain the requirements for your property.
Who do I apply to for planning permission in Woking?
Woking Borough Council, which decides most householder applications within eight weeks. From April 2027 the new West Surrey Council is due to take over.
How much does a house extension cost in Woking?
The cost depends on the size of the extension, the type of construction, site conditions and the specification you choose. We provide detailed quotations tailored to your individual project after an initial consultation. Our guide to house extension costs explains what moves the price up or down.
What type of house extension is best for my home?
The right extension depends on your property’s layout, available space and your goals. We can advise whether a single-storey, double-storey, rear, side return or wrap-around extension is the most suitable option.
Can you match an extension to my existing home?
Yes. We carefully match materials, brickwork, roof tiles and architectural details so your extension blends naturally with the existing property.
Does the Thames Basin Heaths protection affect my project?
Only if you are adding a home. Extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions and renovations are not affected. A new house that adds to the number of homes in the borough must contribute to mitigation measures, which is dealt with as part of the planning application.
Do you offer warranties or guarantees?
Yes. All our work comes with a workmanship guarantee, and we use quality-assured materials from trusted suppliers. This ensures confidence in both the build quality and long-term durability.
